This simulation shows a Ring Oscillator, a fundamental type of oscillator built using an odd number of inverting stages, here implemented with MOSFET inverters. Each inverter introduces a phase shift of 180°, and with three stages, the total phase shift becomes 540°, effectively 180° for sustained oscillation as per the Barkhausen criterion. This simulation demonstrates a ring oscillator, a classic example of how oscillation can be created using only inverting stages and feedback. At the bottom, you can see an odd number of inverter blocks connected in a closed loop. Because the total loop inversion is odd, the circuit can never settle into a stable logic state.
