This is exactly what happened to me. I asked for a DEXA scan when I was 53 and my gynecologist said it was not necessary, and I listened. At 60 I broke my wrist. None of the doctors said a word to me about possible menopausal bone issues. Nobody. How is this possible? I truly was not aware that bone loss is a menopausal estrogen connection. At 62 I insisted on getting a DEXA scan and I have osteoporosis now. This is not necessary. So yes, now I'm doing lots of things to support my healthy bones.
