An eighth grader from Kauaʻi is headed to the nation’s capital after winning the 2026 Scripps Hawaiʻi State Spelling Bee.
On Tuesday, the Lawrence County Commissioners recognized two of Lawrence County' best spellers, Joseph Keffer and Kerigan Kidd, who took the top spots in the local and regional spelling bees.
